An I2C master is a central control device that coordinates communication on the I2C bus. It initiates and terminates data transmission, sends addresses to the slave devices and controls the clock for synchronization.
I2C masters can read sensors and forward the values to other systems, e.g. via Modbus-TCP or MQTT, or take over control tasks independently.
